The Taylor Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) announced today that it will begin construction on 50,000 square-feet of industrial/manufacturing space in its Mustang Creek Industrial Park that will be available for occupancy by year’s end. Mayor Jesse Ancira said “This aggressive move will provide an exciting opportunity for businesses looking to move to, or expand within, the Central Texas region and locate in Taylor.”

“Lack of available manufacturing space is the single-biggest hurdle we seem to face with every project that comes along’” said TEDC Board Chairman Kelly Cmerek. “This space will allow us to compete on a level playing field with our neighboring communities.”

TEDC President/CEO Sean Stockard said “companies looking to relocate and expand typically look for existing space within which to move.” Stockard went on to say that “having an existing facility ready to move in to can save a company upwards of 6 months to a year; which in turn can equate to a huge bottom-line savings for the company.”

“We think this is a great investment for our community that will offer great dividends, in the form of quality jobs for Taylor” said Taylor Mayor Jesse Ancira.

The TEDC will begin marketing the space both locally and nationally once ground has been broken with the hopes of finding a tenant as soon as possible. The TEDC expects that as many as 200 jobs could result from a company or companies locating in the facility.

“It is our intention to build, fill, lease and/or sell this building as quickly as possible to the right tenant and then move on to construction of another facility” said Stockard. The TEDC would like to build a total of three buildings of this size and fill them within the next 60 months.

It is expected that construction on this building will begin within the 30 to 60 days with a completion date set for some time for mid- to late-summer.
