On July 2, 2024, the Commissioners Court approved a sister city partnership agreement between Williamson County and Yongin City, South Korea. Since the announcement of the forthcoming Samsung semiconductor manufacturing facility in Taylor, Texas, Williamson County has become a destination for South Korean companies. There are currently several Korean businesses operating in Williamson County, with 13 more having expressed interest in establishing a presence in the future. It is expected that the partnership between Yongin City and Williamson County will foster strong, friendly cooperation and mutual prosperity through the exchange of education, culture, and technology.
“This partnership will open up many avenues for exchanging ideas between residents, businesses and students. Imagine having Williamson County students participate in an exchange program with Yongin City, and students from Korea coming here. We can learn much from each other,” said County Judge Bill Gravell.
