Dave Porter Named Executive Director of WilCo EDP
October 27, 2022 (Williamson County, Texas) – The Williamson County Economic Development Partnership (WilCo EDP) has hired Dave Porter as its first executive director.
Dave Porter is no stranger to central Texas. From 2004 to 2014, he served as senior vice president of economic development for the Austin Chamber of Commerce and developed Opportunity Austin, a regional effort to grow and diversify the central Texas economy. He also served as the senior vice president for business development for the Orlando Economic Partnership, and most recently, Porter formed his own economic development consulting business. As a consultant, he worked with the WilCo EDP to create a strategic plan for the organization.
“I’m extremely excited to be coming back to Central Texas. Williamson County offers such a diverse menu of options for new and expanding companies. The potential for even greater success is evident by the close working relationship between the partner cities and the county,” said Dave Porter. “I’m honored to be part of the team,” added Porter.
“Williamson County is competing on an international level for businesses. Dave brings a gravitas and level of expertise to this position that is exactly what we need at this point and time. He has the experience and vision to take the Economic Development Partnership to the next level,” said County Judge Bill Gravell.
Founded in 2014, the WilCo EDP was created as a partnership between Williamson County and city economic development leaders to market and promote economic development in Williamson County. Its board of directors are made up of representatives from each of the contributing governmental entities including Williamson County, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Jarrell, Leander, Liberty Hill, Round Rock and Taylor.
“We are thrilled to have someone of Dave’s caliber as our first executive director. Dave knows the direction we want to take this organization and is the right person to implement our plan,” said Ben White, president of the WilCo EDP Board of Directors. Mr. White also serves as the director for economic development for the City of Cedar Park.
